Anhydrides: A Critical Ingredient for Advanced Epoxy Applications
Epoxy resins have long been used in a wide variety of applications, from coatings to adhesives to protective layers and more. And as technology advances the need for improved epoxy resins has increased as well–and so has the need for epoxy curing agents.
Broadview has been developing anhydrides for use in epoxy curing applications for decades. We’ve developed several epoxy curing agents that offer several excellent properties for performance, durability, cost effectiveness, and aesthetics, and offer over a dozen different products to choose from. We want our customers to have plenty of options, even for especially unique projects like wind turbine blades, electric vehicles, aircraft composites, and demanding electronics.
The Importance of Performance
Broadview’s goal when it comes to developing anhydrides for epoxy curing is to balance cost and performance, especially in applications where high performance is necessary–typically resins that serve as protective or aesthetic coatings. All of our anhydrides that serve epoxy curing applications are developed to be versatile and strong, with high thermal stability and durability even under extreme conditions of corrosion, chemical, or abrasion.
Offering Versatility for Advanced and Innovative Applications
We also wanted to make sure that we had several options for our customers to choose from, that way they could receive a product made specifically for their particular needs, resulting in the largest variety of epoxy curing agents available. We have anhydrides that can be used in electrical and filament winding applications, composites for aircraft, the strict demands of electric vehicles, high-performance adhesives, and much more. Here are just a few examples of the products that we offer:
- AC-39 is a curing agent that offers high flexibility to epoxy resins as well as excellent thermal shock properties.
- PSPA can be used to cure epoxy resins without the need for tertiary amines or accelerators, making it a safer one-component epoxy system.
- AC-M25 combines several properties such as high Tg, improved thermal aging, vibration dampening, and high heat-deflection and durability.
