Polyanhydrides–Engineered for Biocompatibility and Safety
One of the major benefits of polyanhydrides is that they can be engineered specifically to meet certain purposes. For instance, Broadview has engineered a few different polyanhydrides for specific applications like epoxy systems, powder coating, and paper laminates. Other polyanhydrides are designed and formulated particularly for pharmaceutical applications that require biocompatibility. Broadview’s polyanhydrides, while seeing their most common performance in electrical potting when blended with other liquid anhydrides, also prove successful in various packaging applications. Our PAPA (Polyazelaic Polyanhydride) for instance can be used in cured epoxy resins for one-package adhesives and prepreg tapes. Food packaging products need to remain stable and safe, without interfering with the contents itself. PAPA has both excellent toughness and good stability at room temperature, lasting anywhere from two months to over a year.
